The European Pharmacopoeia<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(Ph. Eur.) is the official compendium of the EDQM\u2013 Europe Council<\/strong>, containing monographs, chapters and methods that set the quality standards for medicinal products and substances in Europe; it is legally binding in the Member States and within the EU.<\/p>\n

It is a unique reference work for the quality control of medicinal products. The official standards it contains provide a scientific basis for quality control throughout a product\u2019s life cycle. These standards are legally binding, as set out in the Council of Europe Convention on the Elaboration of a European Pharmacopoeia and in national and EU pharmaceutical legislation. The quality standards of the Ph. Eur.<\/strong> become mandatory on the same date in all States Parties to the Convention.<\/p>\n
