Practical Information About the Call for Applications

2026 Call

It is extremely important that interested faculty members read and understand the field-specific criteria and the general evaluation guidelines for this call for applications.

  • Regulations for the Submission of Applications for the Evaluation of Research Activity by Faculty Members with Doctoral Degrees at Private Universities in Catalonia.
  • Criteria: RESOLUTION REU/4815/2025, dated December 22, publishing the criteria for evaluating the research activity of teaching and research staff at public universities in Catalonia for the purpose of awarding additional pay supplements based on research merit.

Requirements for Universitat Ramon Llull

Individuals interested in applying for the evaluation must meet the following requirements for this year, the deadline for applications:

  • Hold a doctoral degree.
  • Be affiliated with the University on a full-time or part-time basis, provided that the affiliation is equal to or greater than 50% of a full-time workload.
  • In the case of healthcare professionals, faculty members from institutions that have an agreement with the University and who hold a position similar to that regulated in Article 105.1 of Law 14/1986, of April 25, the General Health Law, may submit a request for evaluation of their research activity.
  • Minimum tenure at the University of one year.
  • Be an active member of one of the research groups listed in the URL’s research group directory.

Request the assessment

The specific evaluation criteria for the call for proposals stipulate that a total of 5 contributions and 2 substitutes must be submitted.

Selection of Contributions

Important: Faculty members are responsible for selecting their own contributions. The Library offers support in obtaining impact and visibility metrics, which are useful for making decisions and for drafting the rationale and narrative context for each contribution.

As set forth in the specific criteria, with the aim of increasing the diversity of submissions, the current call for proposals allows for two types of submissions to be submitted for evaluation:

  • Regular contributions: books, book chapters, articles, or patents
  • Special contributions: reports, technical or artistic works, exhibitions, archaeological excavations, or conference presentations, among
    others.

The same resolution stipulates the importance, priority, and number of submissions of each type that may be submitted in the various fields of knowledge.

Mandatory deposit in open-access repositories

The current call for proposals requires that all contributions submitted during the six-year periods be deposited in an open-access institutional, general-purpose, or subject-specific repository. It is mandatory to include the persistent identifier (Handle or URI).

At the IQS Library, we manage the deposit and provide you with the handle from the DAU institutional repository or the handle/URI from other repositories if the publication is affiliated with an institution other than Universitat Ramon Llull. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Fill out the Excel spreadsheet with the contributions you wish to submit and email it to the IQS Library.
  2. The IQS Library will provide you with the Handle identifier.
  3. If any contribution with an external URL is not deposited in any repository (i.e., has no Handle), upload the version authorized by the publisher to Zenodo or another subject-specific repository.
  4. Include the Handle or URI of the repository in your narrative.

The call for applications requires the submission of the following documentation and information:

  • Service Record: Request this document from the Office of Research and Innovation at Universitat Ramon Llull (URL) to verify your affiliation with URL during the years covered by the six-year period, broken down by time periods and academic positions held. If you also need to verify your affiliation with other institutions, you must request this information directly from each of them.
  • Affiliation: To verify an affiliation that does not appear on the service record, applicants must attach contracts, appointment letters, or fellowship certificates that confirm their affiliation with the research institution.
  • CVN: You can generate and export the CVN in Fecyt format from MERIT or create the standardized AQU-format CV.

Export the CVN Fecyt from MERIT

  • Justification of Contributions: The IQS Library recommends that you use the template in the Justification (Narrative) section to gather and organize all the bibliographic and narrative information required by the call for proposals.
Once completed, you can easily copy and paste the content into the application page on the electronic portal.
  • National ID card or passport
  • Large Family Status: Only if the applicant does not authorize the retrieval of electronic data from the PICA.

More information

AQU promotes a fairer and more transparent scientific evaluation process. In accordance with the principles of DORA and CoARA, it is no longer sufficient to simply present metrics in merit evaluations: these metrics must now be explained and placed in context to better assess the actual quality of the research.

Below is the Guide: Narrative, intended to serve as a reference for drafting the narrative justification of contributions in the section titled Indicators of Relevance and Impact.
